The coronavirus outbreak has triggered a global wave of emergency measures. As the coronavirus and panic about the disease continue to spread around the world, so too are fake claims, misleading medical advice, conspiracy theories, and misinformation about the disease. The internet is awash with fake photos and videos, trolls, rumors, and bogus treatments.

This workshop will address the need to have deep collaboration with doctors and healthcare professionals to identify and combat the tide of medical misinformation. It will discuss a unique fact-checking collaboration we have build in Asia with doctors for fact-checking. The initiative is called the First Check and it is a pan-Asia project of award-winning Health Analytic Asia which has brought journalists, doctors, and technologists together to identify and combat medical misinformation and unscientific claims.

All times are displayed in 24 hours format and based on EDT / GMT-4
